My friend Dan and I dug this large brass pipe bowl out of a trash pit yesterday with items dating from the 1700s to the early 1800s, and I'm trying to find out a little more about it. According to Hume's book, iron and brass pipes came into use in the late 1700s, which is consistent with the artifacts we dug. If anyone could provide any other info on these style bowls including a more precise range of manufacture, and what type of stem that would have been used with it, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Dan actually has the pipe bowl in his possession, but I'll try to get him to take some more detailed pics. I'll post them as soon as I get them. However, I'm including one other shot I pulled from his FB page. Thanks for your interest.
