Hey all!
Had the opportunity to dig my first intact crotal bell in Upstate NY and was thrilled to find out the clapper was still inside. She's slightly bent by a giant root, and lived 10" down in the clay for the last 200+ years, but today she's happy to be jingling again:
The bell is marked with a 'J' and an 'N'. Which would be James North, who operated a foundry wtih his brother Seth and moved to NY in 1803:
History is mad cool, yo.
