I didn't find much today but I did find this old thingamajigger. The back has a patent date of Feb 7, 1871

And I found my first thimble ever. Finally!

Hey, that's a cool old thingamajigger. Looks like an old dead bolt.

Sure would like to see a pic of that thimble. I have a thing for thimbles.

Well the thimble is smashed flat but it's still my first one and I'm happy to have it.

Nice thimble. All of mine are mashed flat, but I still like them. Both my grandmothers sewed and made all the clothes for their family. That one looks like one of the older ones. After you clean it a little more check if the dimples are uniform, as in machine made, or irregular, as in hand made. Hand made ones are older.
