Latch for a thumb latch found near War of 1812 officer’s home?

All, I found an iron latch bar for a thumb latch near the former home of a War of 1812 officer (first picture). Not far from there I found what might be an iron latch which is also part of a thumb latch (second and third pictures). However, the mounting plate is horizontal not vertical — like most I see on-line. A horizontal mounting plate would still work if it was mounted further from the door opening and the latch bar was long enough. Also the detent is about 1” wide, which seems too wide for a latch bar.

Any help w/ ID would be appreciated.

I have a little cast iron stove and it has a similar one that sticks out away from the main part of the stove.
