Thats cool !

Sweet! So when you do that does it come out pure or are the bars .925?

Very cool ... what did you use for a mold, and do you have a link to that how-to on melting them ?

Very nice... If you do it again take a before picture. I am interested if it is still .925 or if the impurities are still there?

kinda remind me of the hersheys mini bars lol

Coastie59,
That is a great idea. If you can please repost your 3 ingots with a U.S. quarter beside them for a size comparison. I'm guessing they are something like 1/4" x 1/2" as that would be a great size for barter trading. How long did it take to melt your beach finds down?..............63bkpkr

Now re-bury them so I can find em

I did it mostly out of curiousity, I used the map torch, small crucible bowl and a 2oz ingot mold. They came out around 1.8oz, not sure if its really worth it but will hold on to them for the grand kids, may be the next gold in the future!!! Saw it on youtube, took ideas from a few doing it, prob best to let u do the same if interested. Even saw a guy make his molds from wood, HH

Did you have the impurities seperate? awsome job !

fix, dig kzoo, I dont know if it remained 925 or if the impurities were burnt off...I think i will have one tested to see the silver content

The only problem with doing that is that it may be real hard to sell them. As jewelry they are marked and identifiable. Now they are just a silver colored metal that many buyers may pass on. Only those with testing capabilities and/or willing to maybe take a chance will buy them.

Thats cool thanks for sharing.

That is too cool!!

I make "ingots" (cast blanks of silver ) fairly often - Being a jeweler , it saves me money to melt my scrap silver down into a usable
format - which can then be rolled or hammered into an even more usable format - there are many ways of making the molds , If
you peruse some books on silversmithing , you can find numerous methods of making ingots. The alloy doesn't change much -
The melting point of silver (aprox. 1650 F.) is too low to burn out the copper alloy .

Argentium - thanks for sharing your knowledge on this subject I might try it this spring.

That's pretty cool there.That's quiet a bit of silver.Nice
