One last chance to sneak in a hunt before heading north for the summer, so I went back to where I found the Waling half last week.
Did a little tweaking on the settings and went really slow.
And it paid off big!

2 sterling rings
Sterling religious pendant (love finding those!)
1943 quarter
1942 merc
1944-s merc
1954-d Rosie
1956-d Rosie
and a 1937 buffalo nickel

Fantastic finds,What a great hunt you had. congratulations 👏 I'm sure you had a smile that day.

Now that is a hand load of silver ! I like that religious pendant as well, and would take that over the silver coins any day.

oh my, what a haul. love all that silver and the buffalo too. Big time gratz!!

Congrats! That's a heck of a good day.
Now... surely you cleaned that nickel in some way, right? Or is Vegas soil just that kind?
I've never dug a buff with ANY shiny left on it. That would be really cool.

Nah, came out of the ground as black as coal.
Here's the method I use to clean them:
Fill a small container with about 1/2" of white vinegar and put it in the freezer. Don't let it freeze completely, but just enough so it gets slushy. Pour off the excess liquid, then add just a small squirt of hydrogen peroxide.
Drop in your nickel. The liquid will turn a blue/green as it works. Let it soak until satisfied, usually an hour or two does it. Turn it over if the underside is still tarnished and let it soak some more.

It will come out with a bit of a dull finish, but silvery. I scrub it with a little scouring powder between my fingers to make that dullness go away.
