The top itme is stumping me. Looks like it held down something or hung something. Any ideas?

The spoon handle was pretty beat up as you can see. It has a manufacturing marking on back that says "US SILVER CO". ANy ideas on when this company was in existance? SInce everything from this site has ranged in the 1800's, naturally I am assuming that is the time frame for this spoon also.

While hunting there I did come across 2 bed spring frames laying on the ground. They were heavily weeded and would not lift off the ground because all the vegetation that grew threw them. I gather they are from the house that was there in the 1800's but not sure since there is modern junk there also (toilet parts and a car door).

WHile hunting this one section I got an iron signal and came up with another part to a cast iron heater or stove. Unfortunatley my helper decided he didn;t want to carry it anymore and dropped it somewhere. had scrollwork on it. WHile digging it I kept peuuling bricks out of the ground, some practically whole. WOnder if this was the hearth area of the house, or the bricks were just dumped.

Anyway, take a look at the pics and let me know what information you can come up with.

Thanks

Funkman

funkman... I found some vague references to US SILVER CO -or- USSILVER CO and indeed your spoon is at least 1900ish...

Keep an eye on e-bay, or find a good silver mark (makers mark) reference to assist you.
