I don't have a trailer or truck, so I cram everything into my station wagon with subs and the usual misc. junk..so not as much room as I wish I had to haul scrap but still $$ is $$..

*I know the prices are really low. I have not had time to travel to the scrap yard a 1/2 hour away from my place, so I go to the one thats down the road...like 3 miles away..lol*

So basically, the low prices are not improving so I won't be going to that yard anytime soon...like...ever again...*keep reading and you'll get why*

100# steel @ $0.05/lb
2# Brass @ $1.00/lb
4# Copper AL Radiator @ $1.00/lb
1# Copper @ $2.50/lb*it was #2 but he doesn't classify it as anything but Copper...all copper is paid the same price*
19# AL @ $0.50/lb
2# AL Cans @ $0.20/lb

Total haul made me $23.40. Its BS! but it got me to work the part of the first week until my first check...*New Job*

Yeah, thats what I am planning on doing...as of now anyways. I was just tapped and needed $$ to get to work...

I won't even bring him steel...the other place is paying between $0.07-$0.10/lb....

I won't be going back there unless its an emergency.

Sucks when a guy gets screwed just trying to get by to the pay check!

Hey Ghondi, from the QA guy.... that has to hurt, but not to worry. Let hell freeze over before you visit that place again.
Or better yet, If you could go into competition with him and offer more fair prices and have a win win situation for all. Good luck Ghondi.

Thanx all.

I've actually been thinking about starting a scrap yard of my own...not sure how well it would work...but there is plenty of land around here I could get for cheap enough...machinery costs would be high though...but I could always hire my unemployed friends for the labor..along with doing it myself...

Kind of working out the details...like how I'd start..lol

Research for my curiosity so to speak. lol

Ghondi,

Great idea... I'm sure the EPA would probably be the biggest obstacle in todays world......

I know how it is to have to bring in scrap for quick cash though. I can't wait til clean up week starts here next Monday. I've been prowling a bit this week, but nothing has really showed up on the curbs yet.
