jabo in reno ohio this month made the last batch of classics. they mainly make industrial marbles like youll find in paint cans, but once a year they make marbles using cullet from fenton glass...since fenton closed earlier this summer, their demise left this marble manufacture with no alternative but to also close. a sad reality of american life as we know it....there is a tumbledown when a business folds and affects more than just a few.....that leaves marble king as the only american marble maker...im really bummed about this...enjoy this pic of jabos...the blue ones on the right ,the black you see is from budweiser cans the workers threw in the furnace to toast away their jobs and paychecks.....

Beautiful set.

That's a shame they had to close.

Thanks for showing them, Duffy.

Those are so cool.

What would a set like that go for? $

That's so sad. :-\ But...I bet those marbles will be worth a small fortune. Love those blue ones!

Thanks for sharing Duffy!!! Nana :)

Thatnks for sharing the tragic news. I hate to see and old classic company go down.
Those are some B-E-A-utiful marbles there.

Your pictures and knowledge are appreciated here on TreasureNet Duffy...

Damned shame about the Jabo Co. closing it's doors.

thanks everybody....the value on this run of classics has yet to be determined...but the earlier runs from the late 90s til now sell for commons 3-5$ some rarer combos and colors get much more....the count on the classics of all years no way can compare to vintage marbles production where they would make millions of marbles a day where this type is much more limited to say a few hundred thousand at best....but the marbles back in the day was made for toys and not collectibles so what determines the value of those are condition packinging,etc....what killed those makers was also cheap imports from japan who couldnt compete with the new cateyes...the 50s and early 60s was really the last of american marbles...its another process to make cateyes where additional nozzles-- glass temp and glass combatibility all had to be invented by the american manufactures and by the time they masterted it [mid to late 60s] marbles as a pastime was waneing and couldnt make the profit they needed to survive

Awesome colors...dang shame about the company closing it's doors...so sad. :'(

cool looking marbles ! too bad they had to close also :-\

Those really are an art form. If I would have worked there I would have tried the beer can thing alot sooner!!!!
Oh well, I"m sure the Chinese ones that replace them will be far superior, lead paint and all. Hey who wants that old American made crap anyway? We can always buy 3 of that Chinese stuff for the same price. Shame the only place collecting Chinese stuff is the landfill!
Alright I gotta calm down now.
God Bless us all

It's a shame for sure, even our own companies are moving over there. It causes a domino effect on many things, and hurts the American people. Great collection of an American childhood icon. They are really beautiful.

I love reading your posts Duffy, thanks for the cool info and great photos. The blue ones are really cool!

SMiles!
