Last Night's Junk: Japanese Coin

I went out after work last night with Smittyman. We hit a school and a couple of yards. I didn't find much, but here it is:

I got the usual bit of clad. I got a Japanese 5 yen coin... if anybody can read the date, please let me know. My Japanese is a bit rusty. I also found what I think is the bottom part of an old lighter. It has an eagle and a shield on it.

Once again, I don't always find good stuff, but I did have a nice time hunting.
Thanks for looking.

Last Night's Junk: Japanese Coin

I stopped about an hour and a half in Japan on my way to Korea. Wasn't even long enough to learn how to ask for a beer, lol. No pics of Smittyman and his entourage? Congrats on the finds Tom.

Good diggings there C.T. !

Hey OD...

Unfortunately for all of us with a sense of humor... there were no chilerns around last night to pester the old man. I was hopeful, but it just didn't happen. However, let me assure you , if there is the slightest opportunity to get those "lil vultures" to circle him... I will do everything within my power to make it happen.

For those of you not fortunate enough to be in one this saga...here is a pic of Smittyman, surrounded by his lil posse... it has been previously posted, however, like a nun with a black eye, it always seems to make people laugh.

Cool Japanese Coin.
I really like the design on the Lighter Or whatever it is.

Funny.

At a park 2 weeks ago I found a Foreign Coin Spill/ Stash 26 in all 10 are Quarters They go from Canada (Mostly) through Jamaica, Panama , 1' 200 Lire Coin ' wherever it' from ; all date from the mid, 80's - 1995 ,

The coolest one is a 1950 '5' Penning in vg cond, other than the edge, I think it was made of Steele ( it did well cause it was stuck between 2 of the Quarters .

Sorry for the rant .
'Still love the Design on the Lighter, it looks to be pretty old IMO.

Good luck
Davers

Hey Davers,

Thanks for the props.

Smittyman found a silver quarter in that hole. Here is a pic of it, still in the hole. The chilerns wanted to "hold" it but Smittyman would have no part of that. He held it close to his chest with both hands and moved side to side to keep them away from it. The older girl asked him several times if she could "have" his CTX.

Urban hunting with Smittyman is always a hoot.
GL&HH.

weird thing about modern japanese coins is there are a lot of recent Key Dates. Had that coin been two years earlier or three years more recent, it would be worth twenty
times its face value in its current condition.
If anyone is interested i will post a pic of my japanese redbook and the 5 yen page,
tates,
dave
