Well I figured I would try a last hunt for the yr. I went to see if I could find a point, but as usual I came home with scrapers and tools. The large oval one is 4"x 3.5" it is the largest oval scraper I have ever found, one biface and a Reamer almost like a drill. I found in all about 20 different types but these 3 are the best. And yes they are quartz. I only looked for an hour and a half. I read where the Reamer was used after the drill so the hole could be larger.

Nice Rock.. You ever see any gold in that quartz? Happy New year :occasion14:

No hunting here for awhile snowed in and cold I save all my brokes for this time of the year hope to match some up, good luck in 13.

Yeah I woke up to rain this morning. I never sleep this long in the morning....thought it was still night. I did stay up to watch the ball drop. I dont drink anymore, I havent had a drink for 5 yrs. I was a mean drunk so it is probably a good thing. I do miss it though, I quit on my own cause I knew I had a problem. HH everyone!

that sure is a large piece you found
is quartz hard to flake or work?
Yes certain types it is hard to see the flaking. The Oval shows edge work. On that piece you can see a flat edge and that is the part removed from the mother stone. Its where it was knocked off as in a large flake then the edge work was added. Not much flaking like a piece of flint, most pieces were just knocked off in large flakes them modified from there. In that spot I have found round scrapers, square scrapers, shaft scrapers, and other tools but no points. This frame I will post was the best finds from last yr.
