All Treasure Hunting
In the morning we blind hunted a new field & although the high terrain looked pretty good, it was a bust. So after lunch we re-grouped & decided to do the nearby Roman Site but from a different angle. If you follow my posts, we named this site the 'Roman Lion's Neighbour' & we only discovered it this year; although it had been picked through by a previous wandering detectorist.
This was a 5 hour effort;

11 Roman Coins (2 Good ones)
My eyes only Fossil print.
Roman Military Slide Strap
Iron Age (Celtic) Toggle
Cru'Dad's Treasure - circa 8th C Saxon Silver Pinhead - RARE (Will be handed in shortly to the FLO):icon_thumright:
Not a bad finish to the year, when at lunchtime we had nothing of note!

UPDATE:

''The Constantine I Head left with Trabea and Eagle Tipped Sceptre for Mintmark •STRﮞ is down in RIC VII TR 391 as a R5 code = UNIQUE.
Coin is AD 323''

Great find to end the year! Congrats to Crudad!

I know we are fussy, but it would have been nice to see the ring & dot pattern that you get on the bronze versions. Although having checked the PAS database they are all plain.:icon_scratch:

Same thinking here. The Bronze ones are beautiful decorated and the silver one just plain? :icon_scratch:

btw, do you have seen the ring and dot pattern on roman fibulae before? Have see a frag today and Fibula is just a guess...

That's a sharp Roman on the left.
The fossil is a way cool eyeball find for sure.
The silver pin head may be find of the day but doesn't do a lot for me, that's just one opinion right.
Your year end post should be something to see.

Great year for Cru' and Cru'dad, Have a happy new year.....Joe McDonough

Wow so cool.....

Like finding an Anglo Saxon silver needle in a field of haystacks... oh wait :laughing7:
Nice!! :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

Another killer hunt, congratulations! :notworthy:

Wonderful finds. Heck, those two Roman coins look better than many of my 1800s coins! Any idea on the Emperor on obverse? I lose track after M. Aurelius and it looks to be one of the later from the 3rd or 4th century correct?
