So I was able to get out for maybe two hours yesterday. As usual I had very little time and went to one of my standby fields. I've really cleaned the place out over the last year and the targets are getting to be pretty scarce but I still managed to find a couple of goodies. The ground is still muddy from the rain we've had over the last two weeks and it was a real mess. But I've done pretty well in the mud in the past so I'm not complaining.
Not too long into the hunt I got a nice hit and dug up ring number 58, a VERY tiny silver butterfly ring that has to be made for a small child. This one hit in the high zinc range.....
I was happy to score one more ring before the clock ran out. I've pulled more than a dozen rings from this spot. It's kinda' amazing.
So I dug more trash and junk and a little clad. Then I dug up what I thought to be another zincoln hiding next to some iron but turned out to be a pretty toasty Indian......
I put it in the olive oil overnight but still can't get a date. I smeared a little more on it for the pic. As I've mentioned before, the soil in my area is really hard on copper. There is a date there but at this point I just can't make it out. Maybe I'll get really lucky and it'll turn out to be an 1877. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Anyway, I hunted and dug more junk and a little clad. I did manage to find a really small foreign coin about 7 inches down that I thought it was a token at first. It turned out to be a one Eyrir (whatever that is) coin from Iceland dated 1953. I've never even seen one of those before but at least it was something a little different. I also found two 1940 nickels......
I've pulled hundreds of pre 1965 coins from this spot but so far, the only silver coin has been one 1947 silver Rosie. I mean, I'm glad I found it but the silver just isn't showing up here. Maybe someone cherry picked the site long ago; I don't know.
But that's about it. I can't say it was the greatest hunt ever but I did walk away with a little more silver and another Injun' in about two hours. That's still a fine hunt in my book and overall, 2015 turned out to be a pretty good year for hunting treasure.
Plus, I'm really grateful that I was even able to get out there. I wasn't even thinking about hunting this time last year. I've been luvin' this crazy warm weather but it's definitely cooling down finally. But, it was still warm enough to hunt today so I'm happy to end the year on this note.
Thanks for Looking, Good Luck to everyone in 2016 and HH......
