Had last Thursday off of work to go to the Cubs/Sox game. Decided to go to the park for a few hours in the morning. First signal I dug was the 1910 Barber. After a while moved to a new spot where I started hitting several wheaties in a row and found a 1941 Merc. Then it was off to the Cubs game with the wife. After a disappointing performance by my Cubbies I decided to head back to the park for a couple of hours. Found a 1914D Barber in the same area as the one from the morning. Both Barbers were deep – 8 to 9 inches and iffy signals. Total of 16 wheaties for the day ranging in years from 1916 to 1954.
Visited the in-laws this weekend in Dubuque. Joined up with a friend I know in Dubuque and hit a park on Sunday where I had found some mercs the last few times but only wheaties this time – 8 of them. He found about the same. He had permission to hunt a church yard so we stopped there for about 40 minutes on Monday. Found a 1940s token for a ½ gallon of ice cream for a Dubuque dairy that is no longer in business. Thanks for looking!
