Had last Thursday off of work to go to the Cubs/Sox game. Decided to go to the park for a few hours in the morning. First signal I dug was the 1910 Barber. After a while moved to a new spot where I started hitting several wheaties in a row and found a 1941 Merc. Then it was off to the Cubs game with the wife. After a disappointing performance by my Cubbies I decided to head back to the park for a couple of hours. Found a 1914D Barber in the same area as the one from the morning. Both Barbers were deep – 8 to 9 inches and iffy signals. Total of 16 wheaties for the day ranging in years from 1916 to 1954.

Visited the in-laws this weekend in Dubuque. Joined up with a friend I know in Dubuque and hit a park on Sunday where I had found some mercs the last few times but only wheaties this time – 8 of them. He found about the same. He had permission to hunt a church yard so we stopped there for about 40 minutes on Monday. Found a 1940s token for a ½ gallon of ice cream for a Dubuque dairy that is no longer in business. Thanks for looking!

Sounds like you had a great weekend...and silver to boot.... Wtg

Darn good hunts there Patrick!!!

Those Barber are great, the Merc is gorgeous, and that is a splendid token!!!

If you don't get any satisfaction from the Cubs, try the detector! ;D

Hey Patrick (doing my best Ron Santo impression, lol),

Not sure how I missed this post. I just wanted to congratulate you on those awesome silvers. Maybe someday down the long road I'll pick up an Etrac, because I don't know if I'd be able to pick a dime out at 9 or 10 inches. You've gotten really good at using the Etrac, glad to see it paying itself off.

I think it's safe to say the Cubs are done for the year, and it kind of looks like Piniella is tired of the gig. I am glad I didn't see that Cubs/Sox game, lol. I've got one Cubs game left this year, October 1st against Philly at Wrigley, and if the Cubs can play like they have been against the Pirates lately, it should be fun. Always next year! Story of my life...lol.

Those are really good finds to find at 8-9 inches. Congrats!

You have years to go on that story ... My Dad's in his 70's and used to go to Wrigley as a boy. He's always thought next year, but I am afraid at a certain point in life that becomes a less friendly philosophy.

Great haul!!! :icon_pirat:

GREAT FINDS , WTG ! IF YOUR FINDING SILVER THAT DEEP I WOULD THINK YOU WOULD FIND INDIANS!

Oh yeah, really nice looking coinage! Never seen a Ice Cream token before, cool!
