I was in the mood for some gold, jewelry and clad so I got my list of swimming lakes out and headed out on tour early Saturday morning. First lake was perfect, lowered a good 5? and sand everywhere but it was fenced in and locked. A guy at the nearby tennis court made some calls for me to the city but no answers. Next lake again perfect with no water at all, they are doing some construction, no trespassing signs everywhere. 3rd lake accessible but with green grassy beach area, 1 hr hunt yields two coins and pouch full of pull tabs. 4th lake accessible, skimpy beach area and 20 minutes yield more pull tabs. 5th lake I hunted several weeks ago, hoped to hunt the deep end as there was only about 1? of water a few weeks ago but the lake was full, only a grassy area to hunt and I already met my quota of pull tabs. I drove home with my tail between my legs. However, I got close to home and decided to hunt the field that has produced some great finds for the last hour of my free time. Found a 1724 copper and a 1905 silver Half Mark. Here?s the pictures from the last few hunts:
The 3rd lake, had my waders and scoop with but forgot my Styrofoam floating find table to dump the scoop onto, found two coins here

The 4th lake, very boring

Some buttons, the upper right is concentric and the lower right is a lead button

Some musket balls and buckles

Some odds and ends, upper left is a button that I thought was a small bell at first, the rusty looking thing I think might be some kind of spear/arrow tip or maybe a strap end for a harness

More relics, a thimble, a buckle, two musket balls, one with the mold nipple still attached and part of a lead seal

Obverse of a 1724 copper and a 1905 silver Half Mark found Saturday, the Half Mark is actually Sterling Silver, 92.5% silver.

Reverse of the coins

A few more coins, found the silver 1843 several weeks ago but cleaned it up, it?s in very nice condition, low left is a 1766 copper and low right is a 1900 coin. HH, Mike

wow,

Great finds!,especialy the buckles and buttons!!!!...
A tip---
always check the area around the TENNIS COURTS!!!!!! - in the old days tennis was a very very big sport/novel/upperclass thing to do and watch , and people use to sit along the courtway and picnic and such,so be sure to check those areas out!!!!!! 8)

Thanks all for the nice comments! Hey Rich, great idea about the Tennis courts but, here in Germany, they are on their 5th different type of money within 100 years. I have a few places to hunt clad that produce well but anything older than 3 years isn't so interesting, that is back to the late 1800s. Anything beyond the 1800s gets real interesting. HH, Mike

Hey Mike,

Great stuff you've found there. Love the coins and the other pics you've shared.
