I've been out a few times recently. Haven't been able to pick up any more colonial coins but a few relics have turned up. The weather has been absolutely great this week in upstate New York. Even though the coins have been making themselves scarce lately I'm grateful to have had this beautiful weather to hunt in. I ditched the jeans for shorts this week and I paid for it on my first hunt. I picked up a tick while woods hunting. I didnt notice it until the next day and that sucker (literally) had burrowed into my thigh. If you're doing any woods or field hunting, make sure to check your selves thoroughly after each hunt.

Here are the meager results for the week. (2 hunts).

I was able to recover a nice dandy button along with two other flat buttons and a musket ball. I believe the piece on the left in the following picture is a portion of a colonial buckle. The item right next to it appears to be a pendant of some sort due to the clasp attached to it. I'm not really sure what the 2 pieces with the designs are in the middle of this picture. Possibly some broken parts of a toy gun? ???

The only coins I was able to find were a 1945 wheatie and an 1895 indian head.

I found this bell kind of interesting. I'm used to finding broken crotal bells so this was kind of a nice change.

I got a few relic cases and started putting one together for just some of the buttons I've found. Most of these buttons are colonial but there are a few modern ones mixed in too.

Thanks for looking! :icon_sunny: I'll just finish off the post with a nice shot I took of the water out behind a homesite I was hunting recently. Enjoy!

Rob, that tick description on your thigh started getting me itchy....one dropped off of me after coming out of a woodsy area a couple of days ago. I checked, but didn't see anymore.

You have a nice mix of relics. How deep was that bell? Looks in good shape!

The bell was at 4.5 inches in a field area I've been checking lately. I was able to remove most of the tick (his head broke off in my thigh) so I went to my doctor and had the rest of it cut out. It was nothing a little lidocaine and a scalpel couln't cure. :o :D I wonder where all of the coins are hiding lately?

Ev,
Congrats on the dandy button. You button collection is fantastic. I think I only have maybe ten or less Colonial buttons, but a lot of 1800's & early 1900's.

Funny you mentioned that. I just pulled my first tick off my left butt cheek about ten minutes before reading your post. It was a very tiny one. The tick that is. ;D The woods is a spooky place in the warm weather. :o
Great post,
MM

Rob, even though you didn't find any coppas, I still love you, man! :D You did find some really nice dandy buttons, though!

Keep the Colonial fever high, bud!

I knew I had seen a buckle like this posted somewhere. Thanks for refreshing my memory as to what it looks like intact.

Thanks Kyle. Man, I've been getting skunked lately on the coppas. They are being very elusive lately.

Thanks for the response Doug. Those ticks are pests! Thank you for clarifying that is was the tick and not your butt cheek that was small. :D :o You will find that eagle button soon. Don't spend the five dollars all in one place! :o

Very nice finds EV
I am thinking maybe that is a cowbell.
I have found a couple like it but just a little larger.

Very nice stuff....now the tick :tard: and then to hear about MM's tick :tard: :tard: I really really really hate ticks! lol Nice finds nonetheless!
