I went to a really pounded site and managed to squeak out a few things. IMG_2477.JPG
First up is a lead 4 hole button from a Confederate position. This was found a few days ago. i may have posted it already.
IMG_2478.JPGSecond up is the small deer whose mother had been poached.
She hangs by my house a lot. IMG_2479.JPG Burnt and now conserved nails right out of a Civil War hut.
IMG_2480.JPG next three photos are two buttons. First is a hollow iron button, with an acorn like design on the top and pierced with small diamonds, with the shank still attached. I did a hot wax treatment on it and second, of all things, which the detector did not pick up is a Goodyear rubber Berdan Sharpshooters button. I think this is rare to be dug as a detector won't pick it up.
It is always best to check what's coming out of a hole visually! IMG_2481.JPGIMG_2482.JPGIMG_2483.JPG Camp lead and two bigger pieces of campfire lead with melted Sharps bullets still visible!IMG_2484.JPGIMG_2485.JPGIMG_2489.JPG IMG_2487.JPGA great brass and silver plated fancy button.IMG_2488.JPG Another piece of pipe stem and hard to detect percussion cap.

IMG_2488.JPG Small size eagle button and it has an iron back and shank. IMG_2486.JPG perfect Sharps bullet with the 'line' on the base.

That's about it for 2020.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Very nice hunt. My favorites are the Goodyear rubber Berdan Sharpshooters button and the deer...
Happy New Year! :occasion14:

She was hiding right next to my car a couple weeks ago, then next to the deck.
