Well, this was the last trip to my cape house for the season :-\ we shut off all the utilities till spring. I detected a small conservation road twice and ended up with 6 pennies, 1 unreadable jefferson nickle, 2 wheaties(1942 and 1912), a large bulllet a small .22 thingy, a key, a really old lock washer type thing, a shotgun shell end, and a lead thing that says 1/4 oz and has places to rip off a block at a time(i think to melt into fishing weights)? i was surprised by the 1912 wheatie...oldest things are usually from the 40's. also found a pond jar with the cap still on buried pretty deep, its early 1900's. ill try and read the date on the jeff. nickel :)

I know, i was thinking cache at first when i saw the jar too..at least it wasnt filled with antique face cream :D

Cool finds. ?The lead weights are stick-on tire weights for mag wheels used to balance the wheel and tire. ?The balance machine tells you how much weight to stick and where it goes. ?HH

Nice stuff Jake. That 1912 wheatie is just a few years away from it's 100th birthday, which is pretty old to me! Nice relics too!

Nice Jake, Looks like you had a good hunt.

HH Jer

Thanks for the ID on the tire weights ;) seems to be alot of old car stuff out there, guess people go there to work on their car.

Jake!

Nice finds for the weekend!

I found one of those 1/4 stick on thingys a couple of months back. I had no idea what it could be! :D

Congrats on your finds!

Nana ;)

those 1/4 oz thinga are stick on wheel weights. They use them on rims that people don't want scratched by the standard puund on wheel weights. They would stick them to the inside of the rim, and centrifical force & the double sided adhesive would keep them on............another thing I have seen them used for was wieghts for duck decoys

Great digs Jake, WTG!!!
The ponds jar didn't have a cache of silver coins, huh?
That's the same kind of jar I found with my little cahce...
Better luck next time, & Happy hunting~

Nice finds,What part of the cape do you go to? We go to Onset once a year. :)Lots of history.

We have a house on swan pond in West Yarmouth :) I thought of your cache leon when i saw the jar, it took me a few minutes to remove the jar intact because of the frozen ground...
