This site is an amazing place. I had some of the finds from there in my year end video. I went back on Dec. 19, 27, and this am. On these 3 hunts, I dug the 5 grape shot balls in the pic + 96 more iron canister balls. Canister ball total is at 545. Grape shot total is 18. Three of the last 5 grape shot were the 4.2# variety used for 42# gun Naval application stand of grape. The other 2 are for the 32# Naval gun. In our area, these would have been for a smoothbore cannon mounted on a gunboat. Gunboats did patrol the Cumberland River during the CW. I made the pic before I cleaned the 3 balls from today & Wednesday. More to come from that small site. Happy New Year!
