Been there (more times than I care to mention). Excellent Gorget. I remember July 2021 find; did you ever figure out type?
On the type itā€™s very likely it might be a 1st stage Guntersville. In that section Iā€™ve found that point, gorget and a section of a large Discodial. Must be something washing out. But no I havenā€™t actually had anyone tell me exactly what it is. Could be a Copena to. I just call it beautiful

Nice gorget for sure, I just donā€™t find hardstone around here. I usually have a bit of an uptick in July too.
I usually find one Hardstone type a year but not looking good this year but I did find a good bit of points this year already. I still have time. The other creek is still muddy and high where I found all of the points

You have a really nice creek with gravel bars. The creeks near me might have looked like that before European agriculture came but with farming they are mostly all mud bottom now.
I saw lots of mud on the other bars out there. Iā€™m thinking the reason I havenā€™t found much of anything there in the last 3 years is due to no til on the fields. All fields have channels cut that wash from the fields to the creeks. Without turning the soil nothing new is washing in. And of course it depends on erosion on high flow if it happens to wash out a new site. Nothing new has washed out from what Iā€™ve seen in this creek. Never know next year something might washout but I believe I have lost permission starting September 2023 owners have sold the first 2 lots leading to the creek so I wonā€™t have access upstream or down in that part.

Never found anything that cool.
Found it on accident. I was looking in the water around a big tree that is eroding under it from high flow. I just barely saw the hole and reached down and grabbed it. When I pulled it out of the depths it was probably 2 feet deep and covered with brown algae. I let it dry out then brushed it off. I didnā€™t clean the holes on purpose so it shows the original age. Itā€™s a schist and polished as good as it can get. I know a couple of people that have found them from my area but theirs are 6 inches long. I believe mine was probably worn in the hair by the tiny size of it. Iā€™ve found a couple of Celts in creeks but this is my one and only Gorget. Thanks
