Hey guys, I need info on this old ax head I found in a closed down church (owner was a carpenter and collected antique tools, many specialty). I build and restore axes and would REALLY like some info on what it is before I move forward. Thanks!

It weighs ~5-6 lbs

That looks like one of the old fur trade axes you see here on T-net from time to time. Its probably very old.

I did. And while I was doing it, I thought "maybeeee this isn't a good idea" But- my projects balance between respecting the traditional aura of the piece but add a modern aesthetic over all. Try to appeal to both worlds. I put a design involving cold blue metal stain on it. My hardwood connect found VERY uncommon birds eye hickory (for the handle). It will be truely one of a kind.
