I picked this up at a thrift store, looked at the marks, then put it down. I Then picked it up again and put it down again. I finally walked around with it while I decided whether I should buy it. The hallmarks just didn't look right and were really worn down. I was thinking it was plated but when I looked up W.G & S I found some references to them as a Silversmith. I finally bought it for $2.99. Take a look at the hallmarks and let me know what you think. I'm thinking these might be Glasgow. Anyway I did an acid test and its silver. I reconfirmed the acid test with the 18 karat gold acid. Turned out to be 149 grams. When in doubt, buy! I also picked up this really nice sterling silver and abalone bracelet. That's a pretty crumby find!!! [emoji38][emoji38]. Kidding!! That's a really great find and its English. I believe it to be William Greenwood & Sons from Birmingham England. Well done!!

Wait though...... I may stand corrected. I now think it's from William Griffiths & Sons. Still from Birmingham circa 1904-1907ish. Their mark is more squared off like yours.

Thanks Captain. What I find unusual is that it doesn't have the traditional lion hallmark. It looks like there are three where you would expect to see might have been worn into one Hallmark on the far right. The acid test was definitely dead on

I thought the same. I'm thinking that the group of 3 on the right, the lion is on the left side of the group of three. (If that makes any sense. ). Again, well done!!
