This has to be my best find. I found it several years back at a RV Park in Bandera Tx. There had been a horrific flood there a few months prior to my visit, a very devastating flood for that area. There was nothing left standing in the park, no one around to ask permission to hunt. I was familiar with the area so I decided to give it a shot. About 30 minutes into the hunt my Garrett rang DOLLAR!! The coin was found right long side the driveway under about 3" of gravel and dirt. Maybe someone had lost it? Or maybe the raging river had deposited it there. But whatever the case may be I FOUND IT !!!!! It is marked sterling on the rim with three other hallmarks, one including the number 73. Me, myself and I believe it to be some sort of commemorative coin, like a Franklin Mint or something of that nature. It says on the back...The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Culp, Rembrandt 1632. The front has the doctor performing surgery with 4 other guys watching. The weight is pretty hefty too....bigger and heavier than the silver dollar. I have done some research but no luck in finding the maker. It is in pretty good shape, kinda roughed up around the edges tho. Thanks for letting me share !!!!

I couldn't find anything, nice coin though! looks to be in great shape considerine the conditions it went through, Great find!

The edges are all messed up, dented, nary a smooth spot on the side. The back has a place on it where it looks to be a bit ground up and a lot of scratches on it that cannot be seen with the camera eye. But all in all I guess it is in good shape.

I believe that this is indeed a Franklin Mint medal from the "Genius of Rembrandt" series of 50 sterling silver proof medals issued in 1972-76. If so, the weight should be 2.3 oz.

I did find a site with info, after much appreciated help from Oberkill. He found the site in just seconds, I have been looking forever. Just goes to show ya....some of us are not as others. The site sells the coin for $40.00, but to me it is priceless. I have enjoyed showing and sharing it with others, thanks
