Large Saxon Coin - any help ID'ing would be appreciated
I didn't find this coin with the detector, but I did find it in a small box of coins that were given to me by an elderly neighbor friend whose husband had passed away.
It has a small loop soldered onto it so it was likely worn as a medallion of some kind.
It has a date of 1592 above the heads of the three figures on one side of the coin. The writing around the edge reads: CHRISTIAN - IOHAN : GEORG - ET - AVGVSTVS
The writing on the back side reads: CES - SAXON FRAT : ET - DV
Any information you can provide about this coin would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim
