I found this ring today in the front yard of an early 20th/late 19th century house in the midwest US. It appears to be copper based with signs of nickel or silver plating maybe. Both sides of the ring are identical with what appears to be a missing shield shaped insignia absent from both sides. I have begun to clean it as it came out of the ground very dark. The ring weighs a whopping 27.2 grams and there are no markings inside the band. My appologies for the poor quality pics but I have been having trouble with my camera lately. Any help identifying this ring would be much appreciated. Thanks, JJ

I found another completely unknown (to me) object on that same day, similar location. It's just a random doo-hickey that I have looked at over and over and can't begin to come up with a use or ID for it. The entire bottom cylinder seems to rotate. It reminds me of a tail light assembly to a 1960's chevy, but this object is completely metal, no place for a light or any kind of electrical contact for that matter, no company names or part numbers. What do you think?
