🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Large Iron Relic Found Today. What the Heck is It?

Found this fairly large iron relic in the woods today. I have no idea what it is or what it was used for back in the day. Possibly some sort of measuring device? It may have had a piece of wood attached to it at one time. I've found coins from 1843 to the late 1940's in this area, so maybe they will help someone to ID it.

Good guesses, but I don't think those are correct. I feel better now! This thing isn't that easy to ID!

By the way, the thin metal bar has a small hole in the end of the curved section, so maybe it attached to something else?

Hinge for a sawhorse or similar? Looks like a foldable hinge with a latch to me.

Could be from a ladder, but I can't find any old wooden ladders with that type of hinge. I'll keep looking...

I think we’re hitting all along the edge of this thing. The angled piece looks like it allows the jaws to be deployed with foot pressure. If the jaws went closer together, I’d think possibly a mole trap with pieces missing.
