I found this large rock in the woods in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. found in a low lying area which would have been underwater at an earlier date. Possibly 100's of years ago. The water level has gone down since. Weighs about 75 pounds. Measures 14inches x 14inches, the head measures 4 1/2 inches. As you can see by photos, it has an unusual shape. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? I think it could be an old anchor.

Very possible. Though most have a hole, I have seen them with a groove around it.

Looks like a naturally weathered rock - but it could have been used as you suggest. Though I don't think anyone who might have needed an anchor that heavy would have left a boat out at anchor. That requires a dinghy to get to shore, and if you're that sophisticated you don't use weathered rock anchors.
