large grate-type thing in woods

Kind of a large find here..so I goes to swinging in the woods because my trail isn't giving up anything and I find this grate thing..maybe its three feet by three feet - it was under a few inches of dirt and leaves. Also found some cables near it which suggests it isn't too old. In hindsight I think maybe its a tree stand for bow hunting. Not sure.

Looks pretty close. I'll bet it one from before they got to be more lightweight.
Or maybe this is an entrance to a hatch like in that show 'Lost'

Maybe a cooking grate to be suspended over a fire? Any fire pits, or circles of rocks in the area?

That's a thought - but I think the tree stand platform fits the area. I found another tree stand (in a tree) later on in the day so it seems likely.
