I found this large copper coin in 1999 at an old farm homestead established in the 1830's. I also found a bullet shot 1860's IH penny, a 1859 fatty IH, some barber dimes, nice old coins.
This large copper coin is worn almost completely flat so I know I will never get a positive ID, but based on the size and weight, can any one of the experts out there give me an idea of what kind of coin in may be?
A am almost sure it's a coin because you can make out the rim on the front and back. The side is not reeded.
It's 34 mm diameter / 1.339", 1.96mm thick / 0.077", and weighs 14.56 grams / 0.51 OZ. It's a little smaller than a silver dollar.
You cannot tell by the photo, but I think I can see a slight outline of a bust facing right on the first photo. Also, in the right light, a "7" seems to be present near the botton below the bust.
A lincoln penny is added in the pics for size comparison.
Any help with guesses will be appreciated. Thanks!
