West Jersey Detecting
Gold Member
Well, my office was closed, but the wife's wasn't, and the kids had school, so that meant one thing. 8 hours of uninterrupted metal detecting, or so I thought.
I decided to check out a new site I have been researching. With the first few minutes I dug the two Wheaties; a 1949 and a 1935, so knew the site was virgin. Then about 20 minutes later I dug the large copper. At first I thought it might be a large cent or a colonial, but once I picked it up and saw the young queen looking up at me, I knew immediately I found nothing more than a 1964 British One Pence. An odd find for the area I was hunting in, just the same!
A few minutes later my day was cut short when I stepped on a yellow jacket nest. I didn't realize I was getting stung for quite a few seconds. I thought it was thorns. When I finally realized it they were swarming all over! I ran to the car with the angry insects in hot pursuit! I was lucky I got away with 5 or 6 stings! It sure cut my day short!!!
