I decided to hunt a baseball field in a nearby town. I gridded the location finding plenty -o- clad and a few silver pendants. Then I found an old button and this huge heavy coin. The reverse depicts the "Great Seal" and it rang up like silver.

I would call it a good day with that haul. Any ideal what the coin is worth?

Great finds there Ridley! That coin could be gold plated silver, but I don't know.

Dave,
Another fine hunt. Cool looking coin. Hook it on a chain and wear that sucker like a medallion. Snoope Davy Dave? Ridley Ice? ;D
Anything on the back of that button?
It was frying hot yesterday, hopefully you found some shade.
Congrats Dude,

Congrats, that is one big 'ol coin. What's in the front? Any chance of a pic showing the face?

Very funny guys! :D

From what I gather, this coin was most likely minted in China. I found one that was very similar, claiming to be a 50% silver alloy with a 24k gold plate.
The strange thing is, while I tried to find a match to this one, I looked through literally thousands of strange commemorative coins being minted as you read this.
Don't be surprised if you find one soon yourself!

Cheers!

Kewl! 8) Davy Dave! ;D

Awesome finds, Ridley! Great little button there too!

Congrats! Nana ;)

Very nice..........I've heard and seen the same. I was looking at a site the other day that outlined a few counterfeit Morgans and other US coins that are made overseas. Weight and an experienced eye are a few of the only ways to spot them I heard, they are that good.

Dang, that must have sent the heart a flutter, being large and bright gold and all. Dang nice coin Ridley, glad to see it buddy, congrats!! Nice assortment of finds you got there.

Smiles!
