Metal Detecting
Hit a few spots in the last week and they all gave up something. Been on a roll as the last 10 times out found silver. Most came from door knocking with my buddy jimzilla. The 3 large cents, NJ copper and one of the Barber dimes came from the white house. It happens to be two doors down from someone we know who's been detecting for more than 20 years and he's lived near this house for 20 years, just never knocked on the door. Boy was he surprised when he was driving out his street and saw us. Made me think about this other property near my own house that I've been driving by. Sure would have been disappointed if I saw someone detecting there so I went and knocked on the door. Got permission and ended up finding the 1900-O Barber dime, Barber quarter and some sort of monogrammed piece of silver. All in all not a bad week.

So Don......Can you ID variety on the NJ?

Very nice outing Don. Looks like a nice spot

What a great day detecting, congrats! Wonderful digs!

Nice variety there. Anytime you find a NJ that is a good hunt. Plus all that silver. That bullet looks like a CW era pistol bullet. Don't have my bullet book in front of me though.

Too wiped out. It's a large planchet reverse q,r or s. That's about all I can get out of it. I may "work" on it a bit to see if I can see which obverse it is. Not much to choose from with those reverses. I happen to have a few coins with those reverses to work from.

Was trying to figure out what that bullet might be. Seems to be 50 cal and the nose looks like it's been carved. I'll try and get a close up photo to post.
