Hello all:

I dug this coin a few weeks ago on an old farm property in CT. I know the house dates back to at least the early 19th century, and have pulled coins from the late 1700s.

The coin seems a bit light in weight, and is misshapen but it is definitely an old copper. I thought I saw the outline of a bust facing left, but wondering if anyone has any better ideas. I'd like to ID this coin to add some better history to the site. It's pretty toasted, this coin...

Thanks so much,
J23

Try an oil bath for a couple of days, you wont hurt any in that cond.--may bring out a little detail that would be enough to i.d.---mineral spirits or v.o.o. [virgin olive oil ]--i would :occasion14:

I believe the weight is too low for a large cent. Maybe a Colonial Copper State Coin.

Let her soak!!!!! Cool find though!!!!
