I WENT DIGGING TONIGHT AND THIS BABY CAME OUT OF A HOLE AT 14 INCHES DOWN MASKED BY SMALL IRON NAILS. I'VE HUNTED THIS OLD HOUSE SITE FOR 20 YRS AND THOUGHT IT WAS PICKED CLEAN. THIS PROVES THAT A SITE CAN STILL PRODUCE. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS COIN WAS DROPPED THE YEAR IT WAS MINTED. I LOVE DIGGIN!!!!!!! 1817 one cent obverse.jpg1817 one cent reverse.jpg

Congratulations! :occasion14:

That is wicked clean for being dug...NICE!!!

HH,

Beautiful Largie! Yes, the soil at that spot has been kind to it. It will be fun trying to determine its Newcomb variety.

To be honest, that coin looks too nice to be buried that deep for that long of a time

I know , I was blown away by the condition. It was located almost at the bottom of of the top soil layer just prior to the sandy layer. even thou the pics don't show it there is small specs of sand and dirt embedded on the surface. I tried to get good lighting when I took the pic to show the detail.

Very nice old coin. The condition is just spectacular. Well done sir!

You really can't beat the condition. Those deep coins can sometimes come out great from the protection from the elements

Newcome-9....Divided date.

Sweet; very detailed old copper recovery, Congratualtions! :occasion14:

Man that's a Really DETAILED Coin you got there. Any Coin I've ever dug from the "Bluff" has been toast. I guess you Were Lucky not to have been digging in area I found mine.
