Had a great time with Bill D. out-detecting him on the first field and then he got a fast start on the second field and out-detected me!!! Good job Bill!

My LC is toast except for the ribbon which is the only visible marking. Her head is pretty much gone and there is no date. I had to find the button twice but stayed with it until I did. That's a pain losing a find and looking for it again!

I had a ball too, and the weather was perfect. That draped bust LC was a great find - too bad it was pretty toasty when you dug it. Was hoping it would clean up enough so you could get a date off it. But from the details I saw in the field, I believe its of a type that dates from 1798 to 1807. Still a nice find in anyone's book. Guess we finished the day at one win apiece, so we'll have to break the tie next time out. Enjoy the weekend and take care of that foot.

Toasty or not, still a nice find. This is indeed a button worth finding twice !

Congratulations finding the Large Cent, The Sanddigger! I find a lot of those rivets too. Sometimes I find the unused rivets and burrs seperately or together like yours with traces of the leather sandwiched in between.

Yep, you haven't said exactly what happened, but I assume you had it in hand and then, you didn't. I spoke of this before. These things that we find, they are in the ground for a reason. THEY, want to stay lost! ;) Watch and see how many things you uncover somehow find their way back on the ground, floor, etc. Not ONLY do they jump out of your hand, they also try their darnedest to either return to where they were hiding or find a new place! Back in the hole, in a crack in the floorboard, roll under a desk, something! LOL

You have some great finds there, hold onto them. With BOTH hands! :)

HH!
