hey all,

I wanted to post this find last night but it got too late. Was out detecting in the cold and found this large cent. It was pretty deep and gave a really iffy signal. When I cleaned it up I found it was an 1810.

Here are some of the other finds from the past few days. The spherical button I found tonight. The horseshoe was one of my first finds from this site, some time last week I guess. I just finished the electrolysis and it's all done up. Hope you like.

After I get done really pounding this site I might do a "my best finds" post of all the good stuff. This is only part of it. Right now the good finds are tapering off but there is a huge amount of nails at this spot.

Good to see you are putting that Etrac back to work! It loves those large cents, and I'm sure you do too. Congrats!

you know your addicted when your pictures are illuminated with head lamps hahaha

just looking again at your pictures and you have some awesome finds!! buttons, pottery, bells, a little bit of everything!! I like the lamp wick on the right. still has some fabric in there!

Wow ! 1810 That's a "Classic Head " ! those are a tough find man - In your group pic I'm seeing 2 Draped Bust large cents as well.

Thanks for the comments all. Definitely having a lot of fun going over it w/ a couple different detectors. I thought I forgot a lot about using the Minelab but the Etrac really sounds and acts a lot like my old Explorer. Feels like I never left it. Great machine.

Argentum - yes, those are Draped Bust cents, and actually that "toasted" one is a draped bust as well. I might be able to bring out the features a little bit. This spot also yielded a draped bust half cent, my first one ever. Found that w/ the Tejon, about 8 1/2 inches down.

I think you're right, the Classic Head cents are kind of hard to find. Hoping there might be some more coins at this site, but it's getting now into the really iffy signals where a lot of them are nails. I don't care if I have to dig every nail, there has to be a silver coin at this site.

Been hitting the site some more, lots of stuff to post but here are a couple of the finds after the place has been detected hard for a while. Tapering off now, mostly iron hits. The metal is just a broken piece of something, maybe a chain link, found with the Compadre.....8-) but look what else I dug with it. Thought that was cool. I know that some of you guys would appreciate this kind of thing.

Hi Rusted Iron , Nice hunt and finds , it happens , sometimes you just have to get a few more good digs .... sucks that daylight hours are getting shorter and shorter this time of the year . Glad to see back after your hiatus , been awhile .

8-) dawg

Thanks Dawg, also glad to see you back on here posting finds. And glad to see you're still usin' the good detectors. Love those 1200 series and CZ's.

I hope to get out this weekend and really pound the site some more. Not expecting much now, mostly nails, but who knows. I'm pretty stoked about that pontil I dug, though, even if it was just a broken part of a bottle.

Thanks Steve, encouragement much appreciated. Now that I'm getting down into the iron signals I have to keep thinking "next one's gonna be a keeper". I did find a non ferrous relic this evening, will post it when I get the chance. It was underneath a square nail. Also have a neat iron relic that is shaped like a key, dug that tonight also. I'm getting closer to just digging everything here.

BTW, looks like you are using the great detector, still one of my favorites.
