Went to a cellar I have been to once before. I think the only thing I've found there in the past was a small decorative buckle. Like many of the other sites I have been going to recently there are a ton of downed trees, branches, thorns, and other obstacles, making it difficult to hunt. On top of that, there is a ridiculous amount of iron about 15 feet out on all sides of the foundation.

First I got the flat button. It has some sort of fancy backmark that I can't completely read at the moment. I think part of it says Stand., so I know it's early 1800s. There's also some script lettering that I can't make out.

Next was part of a suspender buckle (I think).

I was getting ready to head out when I got a decent signal, dug down about 6 or 7 inches and out pops the large cent. It's pretty toasted but I can at least make out that it is a Matron Head, 1816-1835. I'm happy!

Thanks 4 looking! :thumbsup::hello2:

Nice finds, you saved a couple of goodies!!!

A Large Cent and a flat button is always a good hunt in my book.

Nice score! I've been obsessed with colonial relics so far this season. I don't even mind that I haven't found silver yet

pays to go back.i'd move some of the downed trees and branches.when i do that i always pick up a few keepers.nice job!

Great day! Saved some good history there, I can't wait for my first large!

Always check those foundation corners. It was a common practice to set the corner stone with a penny for luck. Sometimes they where placed at the door way but usually at a corner. I have found them on the ground with the first stone on top and I found them on a tier or two up from the bottom. North corner seems to be the favored place.

Great finds! Even though the copper is a bit toasted you can still tell what it is.
