I found this unusual piece this morning. Almost tossed it back in the Delaware River where it was found but I had a second thought after looking a bit closer! I believe it to be copper as I ground a small area (copper color) in the attached photo and it is green/brown in color. About 1/8" thick. Appears to have impacted a quarter size object and left tell tail marking. Seems intact and not broken as it will not bend easily . Came up between a dime and quarter on MD.
Here is some photos

If you look closely in the center you can see a impact chamber or "cupped"as if it was bursting out after impact. With stress markings.
Pic 4 shows this and copper color

Definitely not a bullet, but I don't know what it is. Hopefully BackwoodsBob will be back with more info.

I was thinking bullet after impact? Flattened out after it impacted a rock?

Hey flyadive, your piece has not been shot or a bullet. Your looking at The skilled craftsmanship of a Jesuit. They were very good at hiding information within as mass of other stuff. If you take your time and look close and slowly at it. Your dealing with symbolism. Each line and mark is deliberately done. One is to confuse the mind. If you take the piece and use low light from the side. They used oil lamps or candles when they made it. So use the light to cast the shawdow. The numbers and letters will have a reference to the Bible. Each letters has a number a signed to it. Like a =1 but if you see like Ps it's Psalms.. The way it's shaped could be like the river is in the area. Look for a creek that feeds into it. The hole in the center is a cave or some kind of storage area. There are also little effigies on it. The lines you see are like the a compass. It's giving you a direction. There will be more things around the area. You just need to know what to look for. Pm me if you have questions.

Yes! He's diffidently for real and very sure of his claims. He's sure got my attention and I so do enjoy his analogy of the - what is it - finds. Rock on BWB :headbang:

I will wait until dark to candle light, it almost looks like the Leo zodiac sign. With emitting rays! No Caves in this part of the garden state. I Don't think it is Jesuit related.

It doesn't matter.they could easily build an underground safe. The zodiac is one of the ways to tell you a clue. If it's Jesuit, they used shadow and sun signs. Believe it or not the trees cast shadows. Even the vegetation in the area. I know this is hard to believe. You can read about this in signs and symbols of treasure. The Jesuit treads as well. There are many things you need to learn when dealing with this stuff.

I'm not thinking bullet or shell after effects.

Don't know what it is but the surface reminds me of furrows and lands cut into millstones.
Maybe it was part of a grinding mill ,despite coppers soft nature..

It is obviously just a fragment of what it was originally.

I'm guessing it's a hand made repair part for a rudder or oarlock mount from a small boat. One side has been 'roughed' to grip the wood and stay in place.

This is a modern version to give you an idea of what I have in mind:
