A 1,000-year-old silver coin unearthed in Norfolk, which predates the Battle of Hastings, is set to fetch £3,500 at auction.
The coin was found by a metal detectorist at Langham last year and will go before auctioneers later this month.
Although it is not “mint-signed “ – meaning that there are no direct mentions of Norwich on the coin – experts believe it is a Norwich penny struck during King Edgar’s reign from 959 to 975.
