Driving through Lake Tahoe yesterday after visiting my sister I decided to water hunt one of the many beaches around the lake. Unfortunately, the cold wind and waves were so fierce I had to just hunt the dry sand. One hour of work produced .71 cents in change. :BangHead: Today's hunt in S.F. made up for Saturday at Lake Tahoe!

The wind this year has been really bad here in Nevada.......and I've lived here most my life.. Hoping it will end soon but when that happens then comes the heat. All I can say is better luck next time. theres got to be more than 71cents on that beach.

Those are some great pics!!! Lake tahoe sure is pretty!!! I live in oklahoma and almost everyday here is windy, so i know how you feel. :dontknow: maybe the weather will be better the next time you go see your sis!!!

great pics CHF, with the casinos up there not many folks leave Tahoe with the money they came with, your 71 cents ahead of the game :laughing9:
just wondering what machine you were using up there as most machines can not handle the heavy black sand there. a little Tahoe history on your 6th picture, just above the 3rd large pine tree you can see the old Stateline dividing Ca. and Nevada running all the way up the mountain, to the right of that is gun barrel run at Heavenly valley

Hi Dale, I was using my Fisher CZ20, it's a water proof VLF machine. I like to hip mount it which makes it super light. Some of the beaches don't have the black sand mineralization issue, but other beaches do have that problem. So I switch to my Whites P.I. (pulse induction machine). Kings Beach will drive most VLF type machines crazy, but the P.I. machines will cut right through it. Sometimes you can tolerate some of the black sand by turning down your sensitivity on you VLF machine, or go with the P.I. and loose all discrimination.

nice photos........that area is sooooo beautiful.
