Good morning everyone,I wanted to post a experience I had yesterday.I got out early and had a few hrs to detect.I went to a spot in my town which is private land but owners allow some public access.I know I'm not the only one to detect there, but some one last year and again this year ,New Hampshire plates..detects and leaves all plugs and holes exposed and rocks in field. This makes my blood boil as I believe it gives the hobby a bad name and that's why people don't like to give permission or post there land . 😤 I guess there are scumbags in every hobby.. FYI I went around and cleaned up there mess... Sorry for the ranting.

I understand your frustration, last year after a big storm I ran into a similar situation. Got to the beach and there were large holes everywhere, from the dry to the edge of the water. I see two young guys further down hunting and watched them dig and leave their holes unfilled. I worked my way down to them and spoke to them about filling in the holes after they dig them. The response I got was something else, (we usually hunt in the woods so we don’t worry about it). They didn’t have a clue, so I did what I could and filled in a lot of holes. Some people just don’t get it.

You can't fix stupid...that's what happens when someone who litters, gets their hands on a detector!
Lol correct my father always said that, but you can numb it with a 2+4 was his quote.I couldn't figure out what they were doing, there were a lot of diggable targets still.Either they don't know what they're doing or they only set detector for silver? IDK just looking for coins can lead to long unfruitful results

I hate seeing that, open holes, when out gold detecting. Unfortunately here in Oz the majority leave them open and don't care. I used to fill them in but its increased that much that Id spend more time filling them in than actually detecting. Sign of the times I guess.

I always carry a sack for trash when hunting publicly. Anyone who starts the conversation immediately sees that I pick up trash as I go. Not just trash that I dig, but surface trash as well. Often they chat rather than sneer.👍🏼

Fantastic,I as well pick up trash, wish more people would,You won't believe the balloons I find,I hunt in some of those areas and I call it the land of lost balloons.lol

I have learned in the past when i encounter these issues I just try and fill them and go on.When i encounter someone not filling there holes i try and explain to them how they are ruining the spot for other Detectorists , Like some one posted YOU CAN NOT FIX STUPID !!!
