Very productive series of hunts this weekend, ending with this morning's hunt at a Baltimore City park.
Friday, August 29 - dug this silver ring with maker's mark "SV" and this American Legion pin .
Saturday, Sept 1 - back to same park in Baltimore Co., this time with JF and got a 1910 wheat and a 1947 D Washington quarter (pictured with a SEPTA token and a 1919 Buff dug in the city on Labor Day. Also from Saturday I dug what looks like a bale seal
Sunday, Sept 2 - went to the farm park in Baltimore County and hunted a recently mowed area. Best find was this pewter spoon bowl
From that same area came this Helena Rubenstein lipstick tube probably from the 1940s
That brings us to this morning's hunt in Baltimore City and I was searching at first along the sidewalk edge and came upon a high-tone. In the hole I moved some soil to reveal a silver disk that I mistook for a coin; turns out to be a sterling earring by Betty Cooke, a jewelry designer in Baltimore.
For more information on Betty Cooke,
After the earring I dug a target at 7-8 inches that is identical to one I dug there on June 29, 2018 and recorded in a Treasurenet post http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/582040-jwg-mystery-tag.html
I have contacted the Baltimore Historical Society in an effort to figure out the origin of these tags; here's the one I dug today
Finished up with another sidewalk edge find, an "S" mint wheat from 1917
Thanks for checking out the finds of a weekend.
