Very productive series of hunts this weekend, ending with this morning's hunt at a Baltimore City park.

Friday, August 29 - dug this silver ring with maker's mark "SV" IMG_6733.JPGIMG_6735.JPG and this American Legion pin IMG_6738.JPG.

Saturday, Sept 1 - back to same park in Baltimore Co., this time with JF and got a 1910 wheat and a 1947 D Washington quarter (pictured with a SEPTA token and a 1919 Buff dug in the city on Labor Day. IMG_6731.JPG Also from Saturday I dug what looks like a bale seal IMG_6740.JPG

Sunday, Sept 2 - went to the farm park in Baltimore County and hunted a recently mowed area. Best find was this pewter spoon bowl IMG_6725.JPGIMG_6729 (2).JPG
From that same area came this Helena Rubenstein lipstick tube probably from the 1940s IMG_6741.JPGIMG_6743.JPG

That brings us to this morning's hunt in Baltimore City and I was searching at first along the sidewalk edge and came upon a high-tone. In the hole I moved some soil to reveal a silver disk that I mistook for a coin; turns out to be a sterling earring by Betty Cooke, a jewelry designer in Baltimore. IMG_6748.JPG

For more information on Betty Cooke,
After the earring I dug a target at 7-8 inches that is identical to one I dug there on June 29, 2018 and recorded in a Treasurenet post http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/582040-jwg-mystery-tag.html

I have contacted the Baltimore Historical Society in an effort to figure out the origin of these tags; here's the one I dug today IMG_6747.JPG

Finished up with another sidewalk edge find, an "S" mint wheat from 1917 IMG_6749.JPG

Thanks for checking out the finds of a weekend.

Isn't that a #48 pickers tag? Nice finds.Congrats

Thanks Rook!
Not certain as to picker's tag. More to come on that. Could be an employee tag.

Peace ring NICE! Pewter spoon great find , not to many around anymore, they will last almost forever. HAPPY HUNTING

Nice assortment of finds. Very productive weekend. Congrats

Cool piece ring probably from the 60s nice lot of finds, my friend!!!!!!!!

Thanks Tommy! You're right. Houses by the field were built in the 50s. I haven't been able to id that maker's mark but I did find a forum post on another ring with that "SV" combination.

Thanks Hawks88! September 1st was the opening of the Fall season for detecting in Baltimore City parks. I made it to three over the holiday weekend.

Thanks dig deeper now! That is the second pewter piece I've found at this site. It would have remained hidden to me had the field not been mowed. Probably the first time I've ever swung over that spot.

Nice finds! :icon_thumleft: Buy the peace bracelet that TwoYewts found today and you'll have a jewelry ensemble! :laughing7:

Thanks Randy! I had a very long weekend with Friday through Tuesday off so I got out some each day.

Thanks Whyme! Can't beat digging sterling rather than buying it.

Thanks Squirrel322! Very happy with the Equinox. Stock coil has comparable depth of my F75 with NEL Tornado coil.

Thanks washingtonian! Agreed! All the finds tell the story of the site. Recent history of the park where I hunted this morning is that the statue commemorating women who served the sick and wounded of the Confederacy was there in June and its absence was the first thing I noticed when I went there today. All that remains is the marble base. If I go back I'll see if any wording was left on the base or if that was sandblasted off.

Great old coin shooting, congratulations! :occasion14:

Thanks ATW! I'm suspect it's been just as hot and humid for you this summer. Stuck to the shade on Tuesday and very happy to come away with some silver and a relic. HH and GL!
