L M Green, PropWoodbury NJ

L M Green was a successful businessman in New Jersey, and also spent some time in politics. He was the mayor of Woodbury for a time, and well known in the community. Here's one of his communications as mayor:

He was apparently fond of building new buildings, as he built a new house, a new store, a meeting hall, and a new barn, among others. And he even made the paper for building the barn using professionals.

This bottle was produced for his proprietary medicines, and I believe this one was his German Cough Medicine.

The company was taken over by Mr Green's son, G G Green, in 1872, but the name remained the same. G G Green ran the company until his death. It isn't stated how much of his fortune was made from the medicine and how much from his many other endeavors, but he did amass quite the fortune. Click to enlarge.

The bottles were made in green as well as clear and aqua. Here is the before and after (soap and water, a brush, then a vinegar soak and more brushing):

Another good job Robert. At this rate you going to run out of bottles quickly. But you definitely have enough to cover you for summer. He amassed a large sum if he had $5,000,000. That was a lot of money back then.
