Could it be a printing plate?

Is it the exact size of the coin?

If it is raised it can't be a test strike for a die. If it is a stamp, it should have a place for a handle of some sort to be attached. Anything there?

If the back is smooth and the things you would want to see are raised, it seems it might be associated with printing and it would have fit in a frame the same way type would have. Since it is copper, it was meant to be used for quite some time. One-time use items were typically lead.

My 2 Kronors worth.

You found it in Texas? :icon_scratch:

Somebody put a coin and a slug of copper in a machinist's press. :dontknow:
If its the exact size and indented, this may be the most likely scenario.

I found this in the mountains in Pa. The road to my cabin was an old wagon trail in the 1800's.
It's not raised either.

A very strange find, I must say ?!?! :icon_scratch:
Strange that it is found in the US and on that location.

Could one imagine that this was used to make counterfeit swedish 5 Kronors ??

My company got bought out by some Sweden's a few years ago. It just so happens that some of the journey men were in town. I showed them they seem to think that someone took a the coin and was just playing around and stamped it on a piece of copper. Will never know Thanks for looking HH Tex
