russy and me found this KRF point last night along with a few other items
also 14 scrapers which I am not posting for obvious reasons
I am thinking another Paskapoo?
I am comparing it to the one I found last week which is TRSS
the base is ground on the smaller KRF point
The bigger chert point is very lightly ground
do you think they are both the same type?

They look to be varieties of Plains Side-notched types. I'm leaning more towards Pekisko than Paskapoo. Pekiskos have V-shaped notches and the basal edges slant inwards at the bottom. Paskapoo and Pekisko points are varieties of Plains Side-notched points. Basal grinding occur on just about all of the later plains arrowheads; sometimes they were ground and sometimes they weren't. Paskapoos are known for their heavy basal grinding though. I'd say about 20% of the arrowheads I have are lightly ground but none with heavy grinding.

Identifying the later Plains arrowheads isn't an exact science. Point styles vary from tribe to tribe and location---even during the same time period...

A good reference for Plains arrowheads:
Kehoe, Thomas F. 1966 The Small Side-Notched Point System of the Northern Plains. American Antiquity 31(6):827-841.

This article can be downloaded for free by accessing JSTOR on a University library computer. If you want I can print out a copy next time I'm at the University and mail it to you. Just let me know.

Here is an illustration from the article. Maybe someone has a better pic of this illustration???

I see what you mean but the pekisko has a concave base and these do not
I find a fair amount of these but they are just one of dozens of varieties all in the same field
don't they look more like the one on the left of the image from overstreets I am posting?
thanks for your input

Yeah, I don't know. Interesting points though.

I was looking over my arrowheads and I found a few that could be Paskapoo. They have square bases and heavy grinding (smooth/polished) on the base. I also noticed that the better made points tend to be ground (especially the ones with strait bases) but the poorer made arrowheads aren't ground.

I wish I could show a pic of some examples, but I can't upload pics to my computer, I think the USB cable is broke.
