KPD: Home invaders repelled by shotgun blast in East Knoxville » Knoxville News Sentinel
KNOXVILLE - Knoxville police are investigating an attempted home invasion early today in East Knoxville that was repelled by a shotgun blast.
The homeowner told police that two men attempted to force their way into her home at 1940 Linden Ave. about 12:10 a.m., according to Knoxville Police Department Sgt. Jason Keck.
The 51-year-old woman said she got her shotgun and fired a round into the front door, apparently not striking anyone, but ending the attempted invasion.
The woman told police that she had been outside with family members earlier when two men approached her home, according to Keck. She went inside her home with the family members.
The mean approached the door and asked to use her phone. She told them she didn't have a phone, and they began trying to force open her door, according to Keck.
That's when the woman got her shotgun and fired.
It did not appear that anyone was struck by the round, according to Keck.
A complete description of the two men was not immediately available.
