Korium Daggers

Hi folks,

I am a somewhat erstwhile participant here but had made an association type of find while looking at Korium dagger and knife forms. I had a plastic one as a kid in the fifties and in finding a crispy claw and ball pommel, the ubiquitous maiden jarred my memory of a site I frequent.

I mean no foul in finding this and could only chuckle in the end. The dealer wrote back to me (already sold) "buy all you can"

Here are some pictures of dug and not.

Suprising though to think mid 19th century, as the metal handle is an alloy of aluminum.

There is no way that dug one is from the Civil War era. At that time, aluminum was rarer and more expensive than gold. It wasn't until right before the end of the 19th century that aluminum become more common and less expensive, due to the discovery of the Hall-Héroult process in 1886. In addition, the style of the handle looks completely wrong for that period. Anyway, your picture seems to show the same knife with a much more recent provenance.
