I picked up these little set of demitasse spoons in a Antique mall south of Provo Utah. The mark on them is a 70%...Is that an alloy of .700/1000 ? I gave $35.00 for the little set, so if it is a 75% alloy I paid more then scrap value for them. I can't remember the total weight of them, but do remember the scrap value just after I got them. It was like $18.00 if they would be .925. I took the photos for an eBay sale starting at $39.95 for "just, silver spoons from Korea" and no claim of them being plate or solid silver and they received only lookers and questions, but no bids, so I still have them. I take silver to the scrapers to be tested and haven't on these, so they may not be even solid, but sure do look like it.

I also found a little card in a little envelope under the pink fabric form a Korean ambassador to a fellow by the name of Dr. Nyle C Brady who I found a fair amount of info online as being a soil scientist and an author of a book on soil science.

Thanks!
GB

70% and 700/1000 are the same thing. Looks like a cool find. I would think the documentation you have with them would make the set worth a bit more than melt value but this is not a subject I have experience with.

I found a very similar if not the same set sold in 2011. With the added provenance of it being a gift to an ambassador, who was one of the first Korean ambassadors to Manila, makes this a very cool set!

RARE Korean ENAMELED SILVER demi-tasse/COFFEE SPOONS (02/14/2011)
bdsawyer, FYI... they were a gift from the Korean ambassador to this Brady fella for the time his daughter was married, but that's nothing to the point I'm looking for. Thanks for your Worthpoint account info.
