Yep its a challenge ID'n rocks whether you have one in your hand or in a picture. With pictures it mostly going to be best guess depending on the defining character of the stone and what the finder reports about it. Got a bunch of folks here who are willing to pitch in their experience so that helps a bunch. Glad your getting something out of it I do.
