So I went knocking on a few doors in the older part of town yesterday. When I say "older" that means about 1900's - 1940's homes. I was 2 for 2 on getting permissions.
It really helps when you have a binder full of photos of the properties you've detected, articles you've written, and magazines a newspapers you've been in. Or maybe they just felt sorry for a 63 year old man digging in the dirt? :laughing7: Either way, I hit two small yards on two 1940's houses. Nothing spectacular, but I did dig a sterling Cubs/ Boy Scout ring, a heavily wore 'V' nickel, some wheat pennies, a 1941 Canada penny, a 1978 dog tag, a 1958 play 10c coin, toy ring, and some odds and ends.
I have some more spots lined up. Hopefully they hold some silver.
Have a great week,
MM

Finding a V nickel is always special
Thank you. After a bit of cleaning it off with a dry toothpick and turning it a certain way, I was able to make out the bust, one star, the rim, and an "8". Thats it. I've dug some up before at a plantation property and they still had a lot of shiny nickel on them. This one was well used.

Nice binder you have and a good idea to bring it along! Good hunt and finds too!
Thank you. I really miss the Western and Eastern Treasures magazine. Miss writing stories for it.
